When they stepped out of the recovery helicopter onto the deck of the U.S.S. Ticonderoga the Apollo 16 crew were wearing blue jumpsuits with an embroidered mission patch attached.

The same patches are visible on their jumpsuits in photos taken during later during the cake-cutting ceremony onboard the ship.

The closeup images above show the details of the patch taken from two of these photos.

The patch worn by the crew

The photographic evidence shows that the patch worn by the Apollo 16 crew on their post-flight jump suits is almost certainly the regular AB Emblem mission patch, as shown here.

Since this patch is not rare it doesn't really qualify as a crew patch.

Unfortunately for the collector there are no other patches for the Apollo 16 mission worthy of this status.

The AB Emblem patch is the design worn by the crew on their post-flight jumpsuits. [4" / 101mm]

The Lion Brothers patch has a distinctive red border along the bottom of the shield that differentiates it from the AB Emblem version used by the crew. [4" / 101mm]

An unusual vintage Apollo 16 patch that measures 5" across and which is also missing the crew names at the bottom. [5" / 127mm]
